Thanking Through It: Finding Joy and Gratitude Amid Life’s Challenges

As Thanksgiving approaches, our “Thanking Through It” series encourages us to embrace gratitude daily, not just once a year. Over the past two Sundays, we explored two key passages—1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Psalm 136:1-26—that remind us how to live with thanksgiving, even in the face of challenges.

Rejoice Always (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Paul’s words, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances,” teach us that gratitude isn’t tied to our circumstances but to God’s presence. Rejoicing doesn’t deny hardship—it trusts God in the midst of it. Thanksgiving is a spiritual practice that helps us recognize God’s grace at work in every season.

This Thanksgiving, take a moment to reflect:

  •  How has God been faithful this year?
  •  What blessings can you celebrate?

His Love Endures Forever (Psalm 136:1-26)

Psalm 136 invites us to recount God’s faithfulness, declaring in every line, “His love endures forever.” It’s a powerful reminder that God’s steadfast love is constant through every trial and triumph. As you gather this week, reflect on your own story of God’s enduring love. Share it with others, and remember that His faithfulness is the ultimate source of our thankfulness.

Living Out Gratitude

Here are practical ways to embrace thanksgiving this season:

  1. Reflect on God’s faithfulness—write your own “His love endures forever” story.
  2. Share your gratitude with loved ones at your Thanksgiving table.
  3. Serve others through kindness or volunteering.
  4. Anchor your prayers in thanksgiving, using Psalm 136 as your guide.

A Grateful Heart This Season

Thanksgiving isn’t just a day—it’s a way of life, grounded in joy, prayer, and gratitude. Let Psalm 136’s refrain, “His love endures forever,” echo in your heart as you celebrate. May this season draw you closer to the God whose love never fails.

God Bless & Happy Thanksgiving!
