SERMON
Isaiah 58:6–12; Mark 10:35–45

Muscle Memory
-Lent is a pattern interrupter
-It's easy to do religious things while completely missing the heart of God

Isaiah
-Why have we fasted and you have not seen it?
-True worship isn't what you restrict from your diet; it's what you release into the world.

Do all the good you can

Jesus
-Greatness isn't how many people serve you; it's how many people you serve

The Pittman Park UMC legacy
-Not a church that hides in the sanctuary
-A legacy of service
-Don't let it become muscle memory

The challenge:
-Instead of asking, "What am I giving up for lent?" ask, "Who am I lifting up for lent?"
-Identify one concrete act of mercy, justice or service that you can do before next Sunday.

Pittman Park UMC is located in Statesboro, Georgia near Georgia Southern University.
