SERMON
1 Corinthians 11:23-26

"On the night Jesus was betrayed, he broke bread"
-Not after they proved to be loyal
-The gospel in a sentence

The church in Corinth
-A divided church

Remembrance Means Participation
Communion is Proclamation
The past, present and future together at the table

Who do we keep at arm's length that Jesus keeps inviting to the table?

The Kingdom of God is breaking in, and you are not beyond redemption

The gospel is offensive, not cruel
- It offends the sinner and the self-righteous

Where have I allowed contempt to grow in my heart?
Where have I benefited from division?
Where do I want mercy for myself but not for others?
Where would I rather cancel someone than believe God can change them?

Jesus is not only the host of this meal, he IS the meal
-He longs to eat this meal with us. Will you come?
