Meditation- 1 Kings 19:9-13
Rev. Dr. Jonathan Smith
Meditation in scripture and church history
Meditation in the story of Elijah
God wants to speak, but we're often too busy, anxious or distracted to hear
-We have to make space for God to speak in our lives
-God often speaks in a still, small voice
Meditation is slowing down enough to know we are not alone
How to practice meditation:
1. Be Still
2. Listen for the whisper
3. Make it a habit
What noise needs to be turned down in your life so you can hear from God?
Are you in a metaphorical cave that is keeping you from stepping out to hear from God?
