Pittman Park Family & Friends,
As we step into the sacred season of Lent, I want to invite you to two meaningful gatherings that help us transition from feasting to fasting, from celebration to contemplation as we prepare for Easter.
First, join us for our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall! This festive Mardi Gras celebration will be filled with delicious pancakes, laughter, and community. More than just a meal, this event supports our youth group’s summer trip to M28 Camp at Lake Junaluska. Donations will be collected at the supper, and your generosity will help make this transformational experience possible for our students.
Then, on Wednesday at 6:00 PM, we will gather for our Ash Wednesday Worship, marking the beginning of Lent. This service will include the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion, inviting us into a season of reflection, repentance, and renewal. Lent is a time to turn our hearts toward Christ and prepare for resurrection at Easter. .
Lenten Sermon Series: “Making Space”
Throughout Lent, our Sunday worship will focus on spiritual disciplines that help us clear distractions and make more room for God in our lives. Each week, we will explore a different practice:
March 9 – Submission: Learning to trust God’s will above our own
March 16 – Fasting: Emptying ourselves so we can be filled by God
March 23 – Simplicity: Finding freedom in less and joy in what matters most
March 30 – Meditation: Listening for God’s voice in the quiet
April 6 – Confession: Experiencing healing and grace through honesty
These disciplines help shape our hearts, minds, and daily routines, drawing us deeper into God’s presence. I encourage you to fully engage in this season—join us each Sunday, reflect on these practices throughout the week, and allow this time to transform your spiritual journey.
Let’s make space for God together this Lent!
God bless,
Jonathan Smith
