The Heart of God
- Jesus is talking to a mixed crowd of "insiders" and "outsiders"
- Holiness meant keeping a safe distance
- God refuses to give up what's lost
The Coin
- The coin was woman's inheritance and identity
- "God 's knowing is intimacy, not surveillance." - Henri Nouwen
- The value of the coin didn't change while it was lost
- The coin is stamped with the image of the ruler
The coin didn't do anything to get found
- "Your deepest identity is not what you do, but who you are in God." Richard Rhor
- You're valuable because you belong to God; you're loved because you bear God's image; you're found because God searches for you.
Heaven doesn't stay quiet, Heaven rejoices
- Pleased is polite, rejoicing is loud
We're not just meant to be found, we're invited to join the search
Deep Listening
1. Have one meaningful, name-deepening conversation with someone you know only casually.
2. Ask a question that invites a story, not just an answer.
3. Lean in with your heart, not just your ears.
4. Don't rush to fill the silence... let their story breathe.
